The Westside Waldorf School, City of Los Angeles, and Getty Villa Committe to Partner to Improve Public Safety

AGREEMENT. Councilman Rosendahl met with Jeffrey Graham of the Westside Waldorf School and an agreement was reached to fund the Traffic Signal and related improvements along Sunset Blvd at Los Liones Drive. The School has committed to provide the City with official approval from the School to put in the first $50,000 by July 14, 2007, upon the interested parties signing a binding agreement to reflect this overall arrangement.  This $50,000 will allow the 14 month time frame for completion of the traffic signal to begin as this money will fund the design stage which will take three months.  Mr. Graham has also committed to fundraising another $100,000 for the signal and will be appealing to Palisadian civic pride to encourage wide community participation.

FUNDRAISERS. Councilman Rosendahl has agreed to attend the fundraising events to help in this effort.  An initial fundraiser is scheduled for September 23 from 5 pm to 9 pm, and will be hosted by the Outdoor Room. The event will be open to the public with attendance from all the stakeholders and homeowners in the area strongly encouraged.  The theme of this Event will be the Enlightenment and feature live music, free food and refreshments including a special healthy ice cream concoction to be demonstrated and served by the renowned author and culinary artist, Chef Susan Teton..

GETTY PARTICIPATION. The Getty's generous and helpful commitment of $150,000 will also help to insure the signal will be installed.

CITY LEAD. There is a remaining balance, the signal is estimated to cost $350,000. Councilman Bill Rosendahl has pledged to fund to remaining balance of the signal installation project.  Councilman Rosendahl is extremely happy to be a part of this community effort to provide public safety to the students, parents, and to all community members.

Thank you to the Getty Villa Committee, its constituent homeowners groups, city officials including Councilman Rosendahl and his City Council Office and the community as a whole for working to help solve this on going concern.
