We have two guest panelists: Shepha Vainstein, the visionary behind the Salaam Shalom Educational Foundation and Brother Atmananda, minister of the Self Realization Church in a discussion around peace and education. The Salaam Shalom Educational Foundation, supported initially by a group of Waldorf parents, recently founded a school and teacher training dedicated to bringing leadership and peace education to young Arab and Jewish children in the Galilee and West Bank.
The Westside Waldorf School, McComb Campus, exists side-by-side with the World Peace Memorial, where the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi are enshrined on the grounds of the Self Realization Church.
This evenings event continues the series of forums at the Waldorf Schools beautiful new campus on Sunset and the PCH - at the fabled Santa Ynez Inn, former world headquarters for the Transcendental Meditation Movement which has been fully-renovated and reinvented as a Palisades community meeting place for higher consciousness thinking.
Westside Waldorf School is an independent private school that adheres to the teachings of social reformer and educator Rudolf Steiner. Rudolf Steiner created Waldorf Education in response to the inequities in economics, politics and cultural relations that he perceived had given rise to the World War I. Waldorf is a heart-based education, harmonizing with contemporary research into early childhood development and education. Discover what Willy Brandt, former Chancellor of West Germany, meant when he referred to Waldorf education as the the greatest contribution to world peace and understanding in the century.
